POPPI
CSED launched POPPI in March 2007 on time, on budget - and free to all councils.
POPPI stands for Projecting Older People Population Information - and that is exactly what it does. POPPI will show you the latest National Statistics 65+ population projections for your council right down to district level. POPPI forecasts can go out to 2025, split by gender and age-band.
POPPI 2 was released on 31 January 2008 giving councils population forecasts for the next 5 years as well as projections through to 2025. It also provides new and revised data on the characteristics of the population of older people and links to more useful information for service planning. POPPI is easy to use and brings information together for you, whenever you need it:
- POPPI delivers your projections automatically - you can also examine data for other localities
- Local characteristics and prevalence data are projected onto population estimates
- National comparator information from care service data returns is included
- All data tables can be downloaded to Excel for analysis and charting.
POPPI is an important starting point for councils to plan for future demand. It saves time and effort collating information and gives a consistent baseline for Strategic Needs Assessment.
CSED developed POPPI with the Institute of Public Care, Oxford Brookes University who provide a help desk/enquiry service to support the website.
